Galantamine hydrobromide is a type of benzozepine derived from the bulbs and flowers of narcissus, osmanthus, or canna. It is also an oral cholinesterase inhibitor. As a ligand of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, it has been widely used to enhance neurocognitive function. Its role is to competitively and reversibly inhibit acetylcholinesterase, thereby increasing the concentration of acetylcholine.
