Agomelatine is a new type of antidepressant. Its mechanism of action breaks through the traditional monoamine transmitter system. It activates melatonin receptors, MT1 and MT2, and antagonizes 5-HT2C receptors. It can improve sleep quality and restore biological rhythm while having antidepressant effect; among them, by antagonizing the 5-HT2C receptor of the postsynaptic membrane, it can increase the release of DA and NE in the prefrontal cortex and play an antidepressant role.
